Access Keys

Sitewide Access Keys:

• S = Skip to the main content on the page.
• 1 = Home
• 2 = Workshop Schedule
• 3 = Workshop Descriptions
• 4 = Information Packets
• 5 = About STEP
• 6 = Newsletters
• 7 = Links
• 8 = Contact

The "access key" allows you to use a keyboard shortcut to skip the main navigation menu and go directly to the content. This can be extremely helpful to users who employ a screen reader to read our web site aloud.

How the access key is activated depends on the browser; typically on Windows systems, users hold the Alt key while pressing the letter or number defined in the accesskey attribute; on Macintosh systems, users use Control and the accesskey.

If the user presses Alt-S (Windows) or Control-S (Macintosh) at any time on the page, the focus will move to the link; they can then press Enter to follow the link.
